I Hate My Book

Writer's group meets tonight, and for the first time ever, I've written nothing.

I HATE my book right now.

My main character is driving me nuts.

Have you ever read a book with a "bad," main character? Someone not really likeable? Why did you keep reading it?

DID you keep reading it?

  1. If I had a dime for every time I said "I hate my book!" it would have amounted to a sum that would rival my advance.

After a while, I noticed a funny pattern: Between the hours of 7 a.m. and 8 a.m., I hated my book. Between the hours of 8 a.m. and 7 p.m., I loved my book. Between the hours of 7 p.m. and 2:00 a.m., my book was the worse thing to ever exist; I should be shot for writing it.

Moral of the story? My hatred for my book corresponded directly with my level of fatigue.

    Take a day off.

You might find you actually like your characters after all! :-)

  3. i let characters in books destroy the story for me. if i don't respect or at least like the character in a book, then i complain and complain about it. but i always TRY to finish it.....

is this the same book that you've been working on, cause you know you promised me i could read it?
