Today, I had to do two things: go to work, and pick up someone's kids. I didn't do either. "Why?" do you ask?
MY KEYS!!
They are somewhere between the garage and house. Seriously. They are RIGHT HERE?!?!
I've looked in the following places: regular holding place, freezer, trash, trash cans, fridge, drawers, purse, other purses, gym gag, clarinet bag, bed, bathroom, car, garage, under the car, under the fridge, kids' rooms, behind the television, behind the bookcases, in between couch cushions, and yes, inside the washing machine.
Egads. According to Facebook, there is a million dollar reward for these babies. I claim no responsibility for that posting. I will however, give you a giant ole' shout out and high praise on le blog if you can NAME THAT PLACE!

Hospitality? What's That?
I do NOT have the gift of hospitality. It seems like every woman should have this.
I feel vaguely uncomfortable any time anybody comes over. I want to be warm and inviting, and I want my home to be the same.
Unfortunately, I always feel slightly panicked that everyone can see all the... panic.
Seriously, if I invite you over, you have a very, very special place in my heart.
Does this get easier with practice? Do I just need to get over it, and stop worrying about people judging my bad food / messy house?
Because you ARE judging, aren't you?!? I knew it.

Three Steps to a Decision
My New Decision Making Process
1. Is it legal, according to the laws of God and Man?
2. Is it beneficial to me?
3. Is it beneficial to my neighbor? (friends, family, loved ones, and, er, actual neighbors)
Wow. That simplifies a lot of life, doesn't it? Also, it is very freeing. No more agonizing!

Today I Feel Fourteen
"The great thing about getting older is that you don't lose all the other ages you've been. "
- Madeleine L'Engle
I love this quote. It's stuck with me as, well, as I have gotten older.
You are always going to be fourteen. You are always going to be a little awkward and uncomfortable in your own skin.
You are always going to be five. You are always going to be needy. You are always going to be brave and scared, simultaneously. You are always going to want to cry when you squish your fingers. You will always be in desperate need of your parents.
You are always going to be eighteen. You are always going to love music, and driving with the windows down, and cute boys. Wait, what?! Perhaps you get to get married and have your very own cute boy. Even better.

I Really Want to Say Something
Really, I do.
I am just out of words today. Some dude, somewhere, who studies these things, said that women have 10,000 words each day. When their husbands get home, they still have all these words left to get through.
Must be nice.
I need conversation practice. I need stuff to talk about. I don't want to ramble on and on, but I need something besides the weather.
If I didn't get the "talky" gene, perhaps it is a skill I could develop. Like basket weaving. Or chewing with your mouth closed.

Routine Fail
Let's talk routines, shall we?
I think I have one. It's called "absolute chaos until everybody lands in the car, crying and rearranging hairdos."
I LOATHE the thought of doing the same thing, day in, day out. However, I am starting to realize that my crying / hair pulling thing has sorta turned into a routine. If it happens every time I try to leave the house... that's pretty routine, right?
Anybody have one they like? Do you have a system? A book? A chart?
Were you just born organized and want to gloat? I'll listen to any ideas at this point.

Mad Dash to the Finish Line
It's that crazy, CRAZY time of year again.
School plays. Concerts. Field trips. Park days. Play dates. Picnics. Parties.
These are all good things, but they tend to come in bunches and overwhelm me. I'm not as tough as I look. ha. I fold under the pressure of *stuff* to do. Even if it's good stuff.
School is almost out! I'm ready for summer vacation!
How do you cope with crazy busy fun stuff?

Cough... Cough...
I've been sick for a while.
I just looked back at le blog and saw that I was entering month THREE of this cough.
Instead of being a logical person and calling my doctor, I went to WebMD and diagnosed myself with pneumonia.
See, walking pneumonia basically means you are fine, and complain too much, and need to WALK it off. Right?
Seriously. I know it's just allergies. Or tuberculosis.
I need help!! What am I doing wrong?! Tell me how to get better!!

Unsend, Unsend... Where's the Unsend Button?!?
Gmail now has a feature that can let you change or delete an email a few seconds after hitting send.
I need this.
I have four thousand email addresses, and have been reluctant to get Gmail, because WHO NEEDS 4001? It seems as if they have created a feature worth switching for.
And, I didn't used to need Un-send! I was a very careful email crafter.
Something has happened to me. Part of losing "Fake Nice," is that sometimes, a little "Nice" goes along with it. Sigh. I need to work on this I guess.

Big Kid Quote:
"Today, at school, Mr. Josh was our special guest, and we had water balloons.
And Mr. Josh? He said when he lived at college, he had a water balloon sling-shot!
I can't WAIT to go to college."
